What is CHAS?
Being able to demonstrate your health and safety competence can be a lengthy and time consuming process. The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) was established to try and simplify the process for businesses to demonstrate they meet a recognise standard.
More than 400 public and private sector buyer organisations, such as councils, housing associations, NHS trusts, including a growing number of large private companies who employ sub-contractors insist on CHAS status.
What does your business need to obtain CHAS accreditation?
CHAS requires your business to submit the following evidence:
- Health and safety policy statement;
- Organisation for managing health and safety;
- Specific health and safety arrangements you have which meets a required standard acceptable to buyers and others.
